Taking responsibility for one’s health and well-being is an essential part of a person’s ability to succeed at DSU and in life. The DSU Health & Counseling Center’s experienced, fully licensed medical and mental health practitioners offer wellness programming. The wellness programming provided delivers educational services and information to teach wellness-based approaches to life, enhance coping skills, and encourage the development of healthy lifestyles and behaviors. The DSU Health & Counseling Center provides these services to help the students, staff, and faculty of DSU engage wellness, facilitate the pursuit of academic, career and personal goals, and pursue “active learning. active life.”
Wellness Workshop Series
Offering information on how to improve your overall wellness. Participants that attend all 8 workshops are given a certificate of completion. Subjects include healthy eating, organization, stress management, improving relationships, Time Management, sleep hygiene, mindfulness and more. For Fall 2018, the Wellness Workshop is held Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the H&CC at 2:30 pm. Call to sign up, the workshop is free.
QPR-Suicide Awareness and Prevention
The QPR mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical and proven suicide prevention training. Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. QPR is the most widely taught Gatekeeper training in the world. Those who complete the training are certified as a QPR Gatekeeper. This training takes 2- 2.5 hours, is offered when scheduled with groups of students, staff and/or faculty of 3 or more participants. There is no cost to DSU staff, faculty and/or students to complete this training.
